SaltWiki will be released at the end of 2011. Until then, please use the German SalzWiki. |
SaltWiki, an Internet-based, editorially-managed information structure along the lines of the Internet encyclopaedia Wikipedia, provides information on the following subjects:
- Salts
- Damage caused by salts
- Dealing with salt damage
The Wiki consists of three areas:
- The two Wikis with articles in English (www.saltwiki.net) and in German (www.salzwiki.de) on salt-based damages have been written by registered specialists and improved by all users via the discussion pages. The Wiki provides an information platform for a better understanding of the topics, thus contributing to the development of appropriate conservation methodologies.
- A limited access multilingual repository which offers authors of the wiki a secure platform for exchanging scientific information. Here you can find, for example, analysis data, physical and chemical constants, and also graphics, photos, short videos and unpublished literature. The use of the Digital Object Identifier provides a permanent and reliable means of citing deposited data, that is as serious as references to printed literature.
Since February 2009, support from the German Research Foundation has made it possible for this to be carried out at the Hornemann Institute[1] of the HAWK[2] (University of Applied Sciences and Arts) in Hildesheim, Germany. Become a SaltWiki author or a member of the research network. Save your scientific data and take advantage of other datasets in the repository. If you have comments to make on particular pages, please log in and write your comments directly on the discussion page that is located on each SaltWiki page. If you have any general questions about SaltWiki or comments, please get in touch with us.
SaltWiki and the German SalzWiki are independently developed. The aim is to keep the content of both on the same level but nevertheless you may find in the other Wiki sometimes more likely what you are looking for.
