Abstract

Case studies provide an insight into the practical field work on the objects. The procedure described here is always based on the specific situation and can not be readily transferred to other objects. However, they give an overview of what preliminary tests, analytical methods and conservation measures are used.

The case examples are presented by theme groups.


Case Studies: Wall Paintings

After several years of repair and restoration of the Königslutter Cathedral in 2009 it was completely accessible to the public again. Salt damage were an important type of damage in the conservation of architectural finishes and murals and is represented by several examples.
